This is Ben.

He is a dog.

Ben is a small dog.

His fur is brown.

He has four small paws.

Ben has a friend.

Her name is Heart.

She is a big dog.

Heart has grey fur.

She has four big paws.

Ben and Heart are friends.

They both like to run and jump.

Ben has a red ball.

Heart has a blue rope.

They both like sharing their toys.

Sometimes Heart plays with the red ball.

Sometimes Ben plays with the blue rope.

After they play with their toys, they eat their lunch.

Ben finishes all his food. Good boy!

Heart finishes all her food. Good girl!

For being good dogs, Ben and Heart get treats.

Yum!

After lunch Ben and Heart go sit down to watch T.V.

They fall asleep and take a nap together.

Sleep well, Ben and Heart.

Today Ben and Heart are going to the park.

Come on, Ben and Heart. Let’s go!

Ben and Heart ran to the car and sit in the back seat.

Woof! Woof!

Arf! Arf!

Ben and Heart stick their heads out the window.

They see people walking outside.

Woof! Woof!

Arf! Arf!

When Ben and Heart get to the park, they jump out of the car.

There are so many things to see and smell.

Heart sees a man with a big yellow hat.

Ben sees a girl with a big green balloon.

Together, Ben and Heart walk to the playground.

They see so many kids playing on the playground.

Ben wants to play with them.

Heart just wants to sit in the sun and take a nap.

Ben sees a little boy playing in the sandbox.

Arf! Arf!

Ben runs to the little boy.

He licks the little boy’s face and the boy laughs.

Ben and the little boy play together.

Heart takes a nap in the sun. She loves to lay in the sun.

Now Ben and Heart have to go home.

Today was a good day.

The book's cover features my illustration but was not created by me.

Ben was playing with all his toys at home.

   Ding, Dong!

   Ben runs to the door.

   It’s a big dog.

   Woof!

Poor dog. Her fur is all wet.

The big dog comes inside.

Woof! Woof!

Everyone began drying her fur and petting her.

Ben wants to be pet too.

Arf! Arf!

No, Ben.

Everyone starts giving the big dog treats.

Ben wants some treats.

But, they only give Ben one treat.

Ben didn’t like the big dog.

 He ran to his bed.

Grrrr!

Ben went to sleep.

Woof! Woof!

It was the big dog, waking Ben up.

“Why are you barking so loudly?” Ben asked.

“Little dog,” the big dog said.   “ There is something in the back.”

“What is it?”

That’s when they saw it in the garden outside.

It was a rabbit!

The rabbit would eat up all the vegetables in the garden.

They had to stop it!

They barked and barked until the rabbit hopped away.

Woof! Woof!

Arf! Arf!

They saved the garden together!

Maybe the big dog isn’t so bad.

“What is your name?” asked Ben.

“My name is Heart.” answered the big dog.

From then on, Ben and Heart were the best of friends.
